Hello everyone!

I have recently bought a Sapphire Radeon R9 280x Dual-x OC to replace my VTY Radeon HD 6870.
The thing is, it doesn't perform better than my previous card. In fact i get about the same amount of FPS but its stuttering a bit, as if some frames were skipped for no reason.
The frame-skipping thing is mainly seen in Counter-Strike global offensive where i get 80-120FPS with every possible graphic quality (which makes me think it might be a bottleneck problem? ).
In Skyrim i get around 50-60FPS in ultra quality without texture filtering which doesnt seem that impressive to me..

I have a CX750 corsair PSU
A Phenom || X6 1055T overclocked at 3.3Ghz
8gigs of DDR3 Gskill ram
Windows 7 64 bits
Asus M4A87TD EVO motherboard

I have already tried :
- Every driver on earth
- Underlocking the card
- Overclocking the card
- Uninstalling everything and removing the card before reinstalling it
- Kissing, hugging, complimenting the card on its beautifull fans
- Voodoo dances

If anybody has an idea of where the problem could be i would be glad to hear it!!

Thank you in advance for your time :)

Possibly a CPU bottleneck, especially in games like skyrim. Try overclocking the CPU further and see if that increases frames or underclock it and see if frames drop in a linear fashion. If both GPU's are running the same then it has to be another component.

My CPU was originally at 2.8Ghz and i overclocked it at 3.3ghz to see if there was a difference : Not really.
And the word "dual-x" might be confusing but i have only one GPU, it isnt a crossfire setup!
I'll try overclocking further anyway to see if it changes anything!

Thanks for you answer :)

280x is a beast card and I think you are back-held by CPU.Its not the clock speed that always matters in games..IPS of CPU plays a bigger role.Usually Intel CPU has better IPS than AMD hence you can see that Intel has better performance/Hz and better performance/core.

I used to have 1090t two years back but then I switched to i5 2500k and I never regretted the upgrade..
