I am using Kingston Hyper DDR3 memory. I got the package new last year. the box says this: KHX1600C9D3K2?8GX. ....8gb memroykit....But in HW info one module is PC-10600 and the other is PC 12800. one is 667MHZ the other is 800MHz. Now in the Bios I had to clock them to 1600 and set the timinngs. I have never noticed this on any other utility or in the BIOS. why is this??did I get sold mismathced ram?

Hi, I'm Jewel with Kingston Technical Support and would like to offer our assistance. When we package memory together they are always identical modules. If you look on the memory label both the KHX part number and an additional part number starting with 99 will match on both modules. It is also possible that the hardware info tool you are using is translating the information incorrectly from the the modules considering it saw one as a 1333MHz module and the other as a 1600MHz module. HyperX memory does require timings to be set up to achieve it's advertised specification and will otherwise run on JEDEC standard specification defaulted at 1333MHz CL9 or 1600MHz CL11. If you find the part numbers do not match on the modules, I recommend taking them back to your place of purchase as they would not be a valid memory kit and may have compatibility issues as they would be mismatched. For any further assistance, please call us at 1-800-435-0640 (USA and Canada only) M - F 6am - 6pm PT and I or another available Technician will assist you.

Thank you for selecting Kingston as your upgrade partner.

Check each stick in the SPD tab of CPU-Z (in the upper left hand corner is a selection for slot #....by checking each stick you can confirm the model # of the stick in the PART NUMBER window.... also check the max bandwidth window on each, that shows the default boot from the SPD that the stick can boot to natively, it's possible that 1 stick may be older if they changed the max default for the model from 1333 (667) to 1600 (800)...have seen this in some Corsair, and think it was Crucial sets.

HWinfo is very detailed though I have not been using I long. The thing is I got the RAM kit early last year and they are virtually identical. In the info all the there are only a few main differences between the two.............................Slot 0 Module Part Number: 9905403-439.A00LF Memory Speed:666.7 MHz (PC3-10600)
Slot2 Module Part Number: KHX1600C9D3/4GX Memory Speed:800.0 MHz (PC3-12800)
Everything else is the same, the timings all the other info also the speed in CPU-Z is 824MHz on Both sticks. I will recheck the BIOS to make sure the timing are correct

Two different sticks the 1st part number is for a 1333 stick, the second is a 1600 stick, looks like it got packaged wrong or possibly someone bought and returned and they mixed the sticks and you got stuck with them, could prob ask the retailer to explaine, they might exchange for a true set

Took out RAM and they are virtually identical down to the model number on the sticker. IN UEFI BIOS the DRAM frequency is 1600MHz. But there is more to it, the one stick does not seem to be clocked at 1600MHz and does not have the XMP profile available at all.

CPU-Z pulls the data from the SPD of the sticks, it's programmed into the sticks themselves, may be a stick had the wrong label on it or as mentioned some one bought and possibly even switched sticks with a different on and changed the labels

what you said before about some messing the kit and now it is not a kit, just two separate sticks of the same ram, So technically it is mismatched. It has been over a year and I got them at staples for pretty cheap so and I did not register the warranty with Kingston yet so I imagine since I did not do it 30 or 60 or 90 days after purchase then the option for Lifetime warranty is void.
