Just inserted a new Verbatim DVD+R DL into my dvd drive then windows automatically opened to show me what's inside the disc, it was empty, I left it in there for a few hours since I was downloading something I wanted to burn, launched Imgburn and then it said Disc not empty, I opened the disc again inside My Computer and I found a folder called System Volume Information and there was a file in there called IndexerVolumeGuid. I don't understand what just happened? I burned discs like this a ton of times before and this never happened, why did windows automatically burned a folder into it without asking me? How can I fix it? Also in My Computer under how much space is left in the disc it says UDF, this never happened before, help me!

throw it out and insert another one

In Win8 there is a group policy option to turn off this feature. Enable Computer Configuration \ Administrative Templates \ Windows Components \ Search \ Do not allow locations on removable drives to be added to libraries.
