Which is better?
AMD R9 280x
nVidia GeForce GTX 770
nVidia GeForce GTX 660
I'll be playing games like: DayZ, ArmA 3 Altis Life, ArmA 2 Island Life and BF4. I don't care about LITTLE FPS differences, I just want it to run Ultra or near ultra with playable FPS. THANK YOU!

GTX770 by a slim margin over the R9 280X, all dependent on pricing. If the 280x is cheaper it might be a better value than the 770.

the 660 is out of the question... it's not even close to the other two.

as far as 280x and 770, they're generall pretty even if you're comparing stock to stock.
Some games better on one or the other.

considering the current prices, the 280x is the best bang for your buck... but I personally prefer Nvidia b/c their software and drivers actually work... years of AMD's horrible drivershave made me scorn

770 leads the pack. Although the 280x costs less for few % difference. You can't go wrong with either of them.

770 - performance lead
280x - value lead

Well, the 770 is only £8 more if I get the 2GB the 4GB is a lot more, but the 280x is 3GB. Would the 1GB make a difference?

Anything over 2GB onboard memory should be considered for multiple monitors. If you only have 1 monitor, the 2GB card will be fine. If you want more than 1 monitor the 4GB card will do. The 4GB card will also give you a little room for future-proofing any higher game requirements that come along.
