The other day I closed the lid of my laptop with world of warcraft running (it was only on the login screen), the next morning I went on to play and it has gone from previously being able to run at ultra settings with 80+ fps to now 10-20 fps on those settings sometimes even lower, I was wondering if I could have somehow damaged the graphics card by leaving the game open as that's the only thing out of the ordinary I can remember happening, if so how can I test if the card is damaged?

I've been searching around for an answer but nothing has seemed to work I've tried restarting my laptop, checked the settings in the nvidia control panel, updating drivers, etc and nothing has made any difference :c

Honestly, have you tried turning the laptop off and on again? Where did you leave the laptop overnight? Is it possible that it overheated? How old is the laptop?

I've turned it off & left it for a few hours before turning it back on, it was beside my bed but it was in sleep mode from where I'd shut it and it wasn't hot when I picked it up. It's about 2 months old, but I've literally only just started using it for gaming about a week ago.

I'd bring it back to wherever you bought it & have them look at it. At 2 mos. old it should easily still be under warranty. Might need to replace the motherboard, or the graphics if it is discreet. Could also be a slow blower fan. Could be a lot of things really.
