my computer hdmi port (that was working perfectly fine last night/ this morning) has stopped working. (The hdmi itself is connected from the graphics card to the tv as of now). I plug it in connecting it my ps3 and play that for a bit. after a while I got bored of playing the ps3, connect it the hdmi port(motherboard). I think i may have been a bit rough with it and now i'm not receiving any input signal from the tv. Please help

Solution
if the cable works on the ps3 then I guess the cable is ok. If you really need HDMI out I suppose you could get a DVI to HDMI adapter and then run a separate audio cable to the TV or else just get audio out of the PC speakers if they are not too far from the TV.

thanks for the assistance. I had another one some time ago but i lost it this is only hdmi available. I have turned the computer on and off but it still won't give an input signal. I have also tried turning it off and on again to no success.
will i have to buy a new motherboard or anything drastic?

somehow I doubt you ruined the HDMI out port on the PC, but if you did you could just buy a cheap video card (assuming this is a desktop and not a laptop) as long as the PC has an available PCIe slot open for it. Does the video control panel on the PC show that anything is connected as a second monitor, if not see if you can force it to detect something. Before you buy a video card buy a cheap HDMI cable from www.monoprice.com for a couple of bucks, or borrow one from a friend.
