Using 3 or more pci-e slots downgrades the performance?

I read somewhere that if you use 3 or more pcie slots the performance of them decreases. Is that true?

Currently i have a 4x wifi card and a gpu. The problem is that i was thinking on buying an ssd with a pcie connection. Will i have problems? Is the performance going to be bad? Thanks.

For most MB's there is only 16x bandwidth so with two cards each slot normally runs at 8x. A third card will share the bandwidth and make the slots run even slower. Even with the most demanding games and high end cards, 16x bandwidth is never fully used. Not even close.

You will probably be OK with the new ssd.

While it is true, I don't know if I would call the performance "bad". The controller only has so many lanes that it can use to address the slots, so if you're using more slots it'll have to divide up the lanes between the slots as demand increases.

Does PCI and PCI-E share the bandwith? Cause i could use one of those fot the wifi card, and the pci-e ones for ssd and gpu's.
I currently have an Asus m5a78l-m lx3, but soon ill upgrade to a 970 chipset mobo, maybe the asus m5a97 2.0
