I currently have a

amd fx8305 @ 4.0ghz (stock)
Gigabyte 90fxa-ud3
Nvidia gtx 670
Corsair 16gb ram 1333 MHz
Xfx 850 watt psu

I know I currently have a good gpu, but I was wondering what is the best gpu at the moment if I want good fps all the settings like anti alasing etc turned up and a more smoother experience than my gtx 670 can offer?

GTX 780 Ti. You didn't specify a budget. But that card will pretty much max out any game at 1080p with all the shinies.

I would say for smooth 1080p gaming at 60fps+ for most games including the likes of Crysis then your looking at a 780/780ti for nVidia, 290/290x for AMD, but if money is no object then quad 780ti's hell yeah! Jokes :)

If i'm wrong someone correct me.

The price/performance on the 780 is better, but if you want the extra performance then go for it, it'll last longer but it is a lot more.

I'm not too sure, because no one knows what they will bring out. If you keep waiting for the next best thing you'll never get anything! I think it's totally up to you, If you want to wait, wait. Depends how desperate you are. The only real competition the 780ti has on the AMD side is the 290x, which is cheaper, but it's not as powerful as the 780ti. I would stick with nVidia but that's just me.
