I've searched on the net quite a bit as to what is recommended for cleaning a CPU and most seem to recommend Isopropyl Alcohol. Problem is, it seems this is a lot harder to find in the UK than it is the US and I couldn't find it anywhere.

I've found some Nail Varnish Remover in the house which claims to be 'acetone free' and contains ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL, MEK, Ethyl Acetate, Aqua, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Parfum, Glycerin, Panthenol, Citric Acid,Tocepheryl Acetate, Denatonium Benzoate, CI 42051

I appreciate that most of that stuff might not mean much to most but my question is... is this any good to clean thermal paste off a CPU or should I have some patience and order another solution online?

i wouldnt use that nail polish remover as it contains oils.ie glycerine and triglycerides.it also contains methyl acetate.sounds like a relative of acetone? what does your pharmacy say when you ask for iso?if you could even find rubbing alcohol with a decent % it would do the trick, but watch it doesnt contain glycerine as some do.also, have you asked your local computer shop about this?
