I made the ultimate decision to go with the i7 4770k because more and more games will start utilizing the hyper threading. Now I need a means to cool one that is overclocked on an asus z87 gryphon board. What would be a safe over clock for something like the corsair h60i? Any other recommendations that wont burn a hole in my wallet?

h60i would be fine. i personally like the cooler master 120XL... i have one on my 4770k and it works great.

I mounted it as intake on the rear fan slot, with two top case fans as exhaust... so cool air into rad, hot air out and immediately out the top of case

the OC varies alot on the 4770ks. you can de-lid them for an extra 15degree temp drop at load, but not necesary. most just run out of juice on reasonable voltage around 4.4/4.5ghz.

some people have gotten up near 5 tho

A corsair h60i is a great choice for cooling an overclocked cpu. With a corsair h60i you can expect to see clock speeds in the 4-4.4 ghz range (and maybe even higher if you got a good chip). You could also go with something like a noctua nh-d14. All though its more expensive its just another alternative to water cooling if you don't want to put water in you pc.
