SATA 3 Cable For SATA 3 Port?

Do I need a SATA 3 Cable plugging into a SATA 3 port for the ''3.0 speed'' to actually work? Seems like a stupid question, but I am curious.

There is practically no difference between SATA cables regardless of what their "rating" is, it has been tested. A cable is literally just some wires wrapped in rubber with a certain connector shape.

There is no difference in sata cables. Some still say sata 2 because they were marketed before sata 3 was around. They are all the same as far as the wiring is concerned.

My boss swore to me that SATA cables are different and had a color coding. I told him he should retire.

Some are red, some are blue, some are black and etc. But they are all the same. Now there are even various colored round sata cables. laughing

Did your boss take your advice? Sounds like he needs to...

He had all kinds of superstitions about PCs. I felt sorry for him because he really didn't need to be in that line of work.
