I have my desktop connected via hdmi but i get no sound through my sony tv. ive had this setup for 6 months no problem, but suddenly it has changed. in playback devices nothing comes up at all, i have it showing disabled and disconnecting devices but still nothing. in device manager the high definition audio controllers have yellow exclamation, i tried updating my drivers but all are up to date, i tried disable the hd audio controllers and then enabling still nothing. i tried to going to realtek hd audio manager through control panel but it wont open. i also tried going into realtek hd audio manager through program files and running it via the .exe but still nothing. any help would be appreciated, and sorry if im posting this wrong, and or in the wrong spot, im new to toms.

Well first thing would be to unistall the audio drivers and try a fresh install. Also, it sounds simple but try unplugging the cable and plugging them back in. It's worked for me before believe it or not.

Are you running the HDMI from a graphics card or your motherboard? If it's from your GPU, you could try a fresh install of your GPU.

sorry i failed to mention i uninstalled them and reinstalled them as well, also uninstalled the drivers then just rebooted, both methods gave me the same failed result, i have it running from the motherboard right now, first thing i tried was disconnecting the hdmi and plugging it back in, also multiple restarts of the machine and tv..... thank you for your reply

Seems you have tried everything I can suggest, sorry I cannot be of any more help.

It is strange that you've had the set-up working for 6 months and for no apparent reason it's stopped working... It's not a setting that's been changed on your TV or amp is it?
