Hey guys,

so i installed this cpu yesterday, and I want to make sure everything is stable and running cool while I play some games, but I can't find a good temperature monitor!

I have tried some programs and all of them show me diferent temperatures!

What should I do?

Some programs showing the temperature on idle - http://postimg.org/image/l37oin0i7/

An Understanding of Temperature on AMD CPUs and APUs
Does HWMonitor say your CPU/APU temp is 70C when idling but your CPU socket feels cool to the touch? Is Core Temp only reading 10C but it's not possible because your room is 28C? The reason is that these and other 3rd party programs are not... See full content

Read it again. Thermal Margin is a margin ----> distance between not hot and too hot. If your thermal margin is 50C, that is very cool. During heavy load this number should get smaller. Near zero it will automatically force throttle.

in the image that I linked you see can Asus temperature sensor and Aida64 showing 50ºC, and amd overdrive showing 23ºC. so this means that on idle my cpu is at 50ºC and can only go to a max of 73ºC under load... That's terrible :o

Are you on stock cooling? Does your case have poor airflow? Is the thermal interface dried up? Is your heat sink full of dust, hair, tobacco tar?

Yes, I am on stock cooling, and stock speed. My case has a lot of airflow, 1 front fan pulling air, 2 on the side pulling, and one on the back pushing. This motherboard and cpu were put together 6 months ago or so, I swaped motherboards with another computer, so I never took the cpu out of the motherboard and never took out the cooler from the cpu*. It has a bit of dust but nothing to worry about, I think.

The thermal intermace material may have gone bad. But also the stock cooler is junk so perhaps you can get something a little better like a hyper 212.

Yea that's what i thought, and was already thinking on getting that cooler since I've seen other people recommend it for similiar problems. Just wanted to make sure if that's what I needed aswell. Should I get water cooling? I would like to overclock a bit.

You can overclock with the 212 just fine for that model processor. If you are thinking you would rather get one of those all-in-one liquid coolers, only the double thick ones will be as good of performance as a 212. The thin ones are too weak.

Let me know if that fixes your temperature issues, or if you need any overclock advice.

Yea, I would like some overclock advice, when I get the new cpu cooler. But for now do you that is ok to still play games? I get about 70ºC while gaming, both on battlefield 4 and league of legends so graphic intensity doesn't change much...

Yeah it will throttle to save itself. 90'C is when the adhesives start to come apart within the CPU. No worries since you are still above the margin.
