I'm thinking of jumping from my Asus 1080p gsync monitor to a 1440p monitor. I'm a huge gamer that loves games like Batman Arkham Origins and Tomb Raider. I do play some FPS, but not a lot. Please help if you can. My Rig is as follows

i7 4770k
Dual Asus gtx780ti's in sli
16gb of corsair vengeance lp ram at 1600mhz
Corsair HX1050 80 plus gold psu
Corsair h100i cpu cooler
Asus maximus 6 hero motherboard
Samsung 240gb 840evo ssd
1TB Western digital black HD
Windows7 home premium 64bit
Corsair K50 Raptor keyboard
Corsair m40 raptor mouse

Nice rig!

Interesting that you're moving away from gsync. But I am a big fan of high-res and agree with your decision :)

Your budget and rig will support any monitor/s you want.
Why stop at 1440P?
Consider 2560 x 1600 30"

I would suggest a 4k monitor, but not yet.
1. They are pricey.
2. 60hz is an issue.
3. 30" max size may be too small.

Well 4k is a little on the pricey for my taste.... I'm just on the fence as to if I should switch.. my gsync monitor ha 144hz refresh rate and 1ms response time...

It's personal preference, do you want the high framerate and gsync, or do you want to sacrifice it for higher res? We can't answer that question for you :)

Given a choice between G-Sync / Lightboost (144 hz) and 1440, I'll take the hi refresh / Lightboost / G-Sync. Asus has a 120 Hz 1440 G-sync model coming out, and I won't jump on 1440 till it hits ... and at $800 price isn't all that daunting

With $500 to spend, I'd buy 2 more of the monitor you are using

So refresh rate over pixels?

Well let's just say i wouldn't give up Lightboost / G-Sync for more pixels....ans when the new Asus comes out, you can have both.
