The 290 is a great card but can get very hot, personally I would go for the Tri-X for better cooling and life time.

R9 290X is just overclocked R9 290 i.
R9 hawaii chip runs very hot .

I say get R9 290X Tri-x it will be more better as It will last long .
or else get referance r9 290X and get NZXT Kraken G10 .

Hope that helps !

the early reply doesn't make sense...the vapor x is the better cooler.

Basically he is asking do I sacrifice some performance for much better cooling.

Id say the 290 with vapor x...overclock it to try and make up the performance hit...that cooler is a good one.

As far as I can tell.. the 290 Vapor-X is kind of like a "classified" version of the card. Am I right? and the Tri-X is just a non-reference cooler. Basically, I wanted to know if the performance increase from a 290 "classified" to a 290x "ACX" would be worth it. Thanks.
