OK,
its my first time here, so sorry for any mistakes.

i have a core 2 duo processor, and i recently decided to purchase a secondhand core 2 quad q9550. when i went to plug it in, i found that my computer would not start. after some research, i found that my motherboard could not support the newer processor, (even though they were both lga775).

so, now i am in the market for a new lga775 motherboard.

what i need is something like this:
lga775 socket, with support for a q9550 quad core
4 ram slots, 667/800, preferably ddr2, but ddr3 is also ok.
1 or 2 PCIe x16 slots, preferably version 2.0 or 3.0.
sata slots,
etc.

if anyone remembers a mobo that they had fond memories of, or one that was a good one, please let me know.

thanks

Hi, I've had the same problem. I then used a Gigabyte GA-EG41MF-US2H mobo. I'm still using it. I also built using the same chip on a Gigabyte GA-G33M-DS2R mobo, and an MSI G52-75281X8-AG4 mobo.
Cheers.
