Ok first off, yes I've got the drivers installed and yes I have set it up in the BIOS. I don't have speakers so I'm using my headset/headphones as a test. My monitor also doesn't have speakers but when I pulg my headphones into it the audio runs fine. However I want to keep my wireless USB reciever in the back of my PC and run it to the audio port on the back of the pc as well to avoid cable managing. The HD Audio plug from my case is plugged into the mobo, everything works great in the build except for the audio. Any ideas the problem?

Yep, caqde is on the right track.

The root of the problem is this: Windows can only use ONE audio output device at a time. You get to choose which one (if you have more than 1) in Windows' Sound and Audio Devices in Control Panel - try its Audio tab and look at the Default Audio Device.

It appears you have two devices. One is the mobo's sound chip which feeds its outputs to 3.5 mm jacks on the back panel, and to any front headphone jacks via the cable you plugged into the mobo. The other is a separate sound chip built into your video card, specifically to generate audio signals it can send out on the HDMI output cable. Apparently (probably set up this way by the video card driver Install software) your Windows is set to use the Video...

Its for the Afterglow Prismatic Universal headset, but it also comes with a 3.5 to 3.5 jack to connect it via a wire instead of wireless and it still doesn't work. My monitor has a headphone jack which I plug into to get the audio out. The audio is coming from the HDMI from the GPU

Check your windows playback devices for the current default your monitor is likely set as the default playback device. Your motherboard's onboard audio and GPU's onboard should be listed as separate devices. (My monitor has no speakers and has a 3.5 jack like yours and is listed as an output device that is "ready" on my computer not that I could hear anything if it was selected as the default).

You can get to the playback devices by right clicking on the volume control icon in the tray of Win Vista/7/8 (not sure about XP).

Apparently (probably set up this way by the video card driver Install software) your Windows is set to use the Video card's audio system, because you ARE getting sound delivered to your monitor via the HDMI cable. From what you say, though, you do not want to do that (no speakers in the monitor).

So what to do? Go the Control Panel ... Sound and Audio Devices ... Audio and click the down-arrow next to the window in the top Default Audio Devices box. You will see a menu of all audio output devices in your system. Choose the mobo's system, rather than the vid card's system, then back out. Now try plugging into your 3.5mm jacks.
