Hi guys I was wondering if anyone knows of a WiFi receiver/ repeater that has an external antenna connection?
I want to basically pick up the free/ open WiFi signals that are floating around as a free service to my community and be able to utilize them..
I'm looking for a medium to high quality receiver/ repeater that can handle multiple users and has excellent data transfer capabilities. I have a 12dbi weatherproof antenna ready to go with cable, which has an SMA connector, but this can be changed.
Thanks for your help guys, this site is a good idea!

The only one I know that works somewhat ok because it has 2 radios is the haw2r1.

I would use something like a engenius enh202 connected to any wireless router or AP inside the house. You do not get loss due to cable length and it is designed for the purpose you are asking about. The main issue you will see trying to run repeaters is most repeaters do exactly that repeat. Because of how encryption works you are not allowed to have multiple mac addresses on the same connection. This means only a single machine would work. To fix this they use WDS but in most cases you must have access to the main router to allow. So the only other way to get this to work it to have the device run as a router that uses the wireless as its wan...

No. the free/ open networks- like the one I get at my camp at work- is there to be used, and I cannot get it due to my being inside a metal walled room. Also, throughout the area I live in is free WiFi, FOR EVERYBODY TO LEGALLY USE. I cannot go over the administrators daily permitted amount.
What I'm doing is legal.
