For the past month I been trying to figure out why my computer randomly shut down under load. After it shuts down it I have to unplug it from the back and wait about 10secs then I can start it again. Not even heavy load I'm talking about opening steam and Google Chrome would cause a shut down. I rma'd my psu, I Re seated my ram and gpu, tried different psu and gpu also my Temps are fine. Only thing I haven't done is reseat the cpu and heatsink.

However I finally came across a fix, I went into the bios and turned off the auto powerboost. Ever since my computer has been running beautifully! No shuts down what so ever.

But it still bugs me that Idk what's causing this is it the mobo or cpu? So far this means I can't overclock any ideas? My mobo is the gigabyte 990fxa-ud3 and cpu is the amd fx990 8320
My psu is 650w

That's probably your issue , that's one of the worst power supplies on the market.

TR2's make better paperweights.

Everyone loves Gigabyte motherboards because they're cheap, but they're junk and always have been. I've yet to use one that didn't have problems. I know someone will argue, but if they would look through these forums they will see that a majority of the people having problems are using Gigabyte hardware. If you can, I would suggest getting a better motherboard.

So it would be the motherboard?
:( I can't really really replace that right now. Hmm I just built it this February though could it be replaced by gigabyte?

I bought the CX750M and took apart the entire pc piece by piece reapplied thermal paste and installed the new psu. Set my bios to optimized default(made sure CPU powerboost was set to auto). I have been running ALL THE THINGS for the past couple of hours and so far no shut downs!!!! Thanks!
