How to Speed Cat5e speed

Hey I have taken a new internet connection (wire broadband connection )
my plan is 256 kbps unlimited
My cable operator give this line using cat5e wire which length from post to my house about 230 mtrs
Where as i know the range of this cable is about 100 mtrs
They said that I get speed in torrent about 1.5 mbps but i get only 850 kbps speed
I test using different types of torrent (with high seeders & peers)
I told them about my problem bt they jst ignore it . So i want to know how to increse my speed OR is there any way to increse cat5e wire speed ????????????
PLZ PLZ help me ..........

Try testing your download speed at speedtest.net, when you are not running torrents. Torrent speed tends to fluxuate, and there is no way to increase the "speed" of a Cat 5e cable it is determined by the maximum speed of your router and your computer, it is either running to your computer at 100Mb/s or 1000Mb/s which is faster than your ISP's internet connection.

When you are talking about a post to your house, that is typically not a Cat 5e cable.

yes from post to my home cable is cat5e
And the 230 mtrs doesn't affect ???????????

Still the distance to the post unless it contains a fiber dsl device does not matter. There is likely much more cable back to the telco office.

It depends what your contract says. If it says you should get 1.5mbit/sec MINIMUM then it should run that, most time they do not guarantee any rate. It tends to be very hard to get good test results since they can blame another ISP you are passing though. You need to test to a speed test server run by the ISP themselves and if it does not produce the number you were promised you need to complain.
