so i was planning to upgrade my pc because i wanted to get more in this pc gaming experience. it has intel pentium dual core 2.33, 4 GB ram, 450 watts power supply, but the thing is, its the graphic card. i wanted to change it but i apparently i couldn't cuz the motherboard is too old i guess.
so can i remove all of those components and just get a new motherboard and a new graphic card and just put the other component again? will it work?

Solution
You can re-use the hard drive, the optical drive, and maybe the case, depending on how hard it is to work with and if it will fit whatever new motherboard you buy. But the existing motherboard, CPU, and RAM are obsolete, they won't work with anything new.

And the power supply, it depends on if it's a name brand and how powerful a graphics card you get. You might not be able to use the PSU, it depends.

It depends on what components you want to re-use. If the case is from some major PC maker, such as HP, Dell, Acer, etc., then probably no, you couldn't re-use it. The power supply, maybe, but unless it's a very good name-brand, probably no, a decent graphics card would probably draw too much power and kill it (depending on what graphics card you bought). You could probably re-use the optical drive.

A new motherboard would mean new memory, you might be able to re-use the hard drive but if it's as old as the processor sounds, then I would not re-use it, they have a limited life.

So if you know exactly what you have, tell us so we can give you better advice. Such as what kind of memory do you have (DDR2, DDR3, etc.), what's the brand name of your power supply, what brand is your computer (or did you build it?).

as far as i know i have DDR2 memory, not sure about the power supply cuz i just changed it today.. didn't ask much :p
and i guess the motherboard is Intel G41 Express chipset .
i just checked their website and it looks like the computer i bought is the only thing they have.

so, can i do anything about it before throwing it away? like making use of its components?
