Hi Tom's Community. Long time member and contributor (got a few best answers :D). Just wanted to gets some overclocking experts thoughts on my 8350 OC and I have a few questions/concerns.

Well, here is my OC and system specs. I currently have just the multiplier (x23) adjusted to reach ~4.62GHz. I ran OCCT for just over 1 hr with out errors. My voltage is currently reading 1.5V and temps 54-57C and NB temps 71-77C. NB at 2200 MHz; HT Link 2600 MHz. My motherboard is a GIGABYTE 990FXA-UD3 rev 1.0 (no LLC, i know) at current non-beta bios F9.

So, here are my concerns and questions.

1. As we can see from the images from OCCT (in the title description of each) that it says the current clock is ~4.7GHz but obviously in the frequency graph, its around 4.6GHz. Why would this be so?

2. Secondly, the same goes for the bus speed. It's set at 200MHz, but is showing like 201.3MHz in CPU-Z. Why would this be happening?

3. Why is it that my voltages are set at 1.5375V in the BIOS but my max is only 1.5V. What could be causing this?

4. Finally, is there anything that I could possible do to try and get to 4.7. Just interested in reaching this personal milestone on this CPU and MB. I know that rev 1.0 is not the best because of the lack of LLC. You can see my specs in my sig. If no one thinks that I can go higher, am I safe to keeps these current settings?

No setting is constant. All speed and voltage settings fluctuate and is impossible for them to remain constant. If you can get more speed without increasing your voltage, go for it. Is it not stable at those speeds at a lower voltage? It seems very high for such a small overclock. You do not want your voltage any higher than 1.55 MAX unless you are running a custom water loop to keep the temps down. I would imagine you would be able to get closer to if not at 5GHz with that CPU. I was able to get a 6300 to a 1.4GHz overclock at 4.9GHz stable with a closed loop cooler, but it runs a bit cooler than your 8350 and I was using a motherboard specifically designed for overclocking. I would see how far I could get stable without pushing the voltage any higher, but not without some better cooling. Your second set of temps are very high and you don't want them in that range if you want your cpu to live long.

If you already past 1.5v with a 4.6 overclock, I wouldn't push it any further without a custom loop

Unfortunately not all 8350's are equal, some can get further on less volts.

I've managed to get mine stable at 4.8ghz @ 1.48v using a H80i, with core temp 49C and socket temp 58C under load.

But that's the limit with an H80i on mine, any further and the voltage and temps take a big jump.

Thanks for the responses everyone. Yeah, I have an H80 on mine. I honestly think that I might be able to do better with a better motherboard. This rev1.0 UD3 is probably what is holding me back. I think that this will be the next thing to replace on the list, agreed? Any suggestions on a good OC mobo around $150?

Nice one Blackbird :). What motherboard and cooling do you have on that. I really think I should be able to get higher with a better motherboard. I mean its a shame to sit at 4.6 with 1.5V!!
