I'm going to be building my own PC soon and I'm not sure which CPU is right for me. I'm trying to decide between the fx 6300 or the amd athlon x4 760k. I'm not sure which is good for me, all I want is to be able to run games at 60fps. The GPU for my build is the EVGA gtx 750ti superclocked with 8gb of RAM.

Also, the 760K is slightly cheaper, and I liked some of the motherboards better. In games that can take advantage of all threads the FX-6300 pulls ahead.

So no huge difference.

Try going to pcpartpicker and make a build:

*Note the FX-6300 uses AM3+ motherboards and the X4-760K uses FM2+.

Other:
It's possible the FM2+ may get better CPU's in the future but the AM3+ will not.

Games at 60fps is a broad statement. What games? What resolution? what settings? the 750ti is only like $130 card, it's not going to max out current games at 60fps at 1080p on ultra regardless of your CPU. It's not a 60fps card unless thats low graphics or last gen games.

I would go with FX-6300. Actually, i bought FX-6300 couple of days ago and I'm really happy with it. FX-6300 has 6 cores, it's relatively cheap and, combined with the right motherboard and cooling, is good for overclocking if there is need for it.

As for the gaming, I combined my FX-6300 with r9 270x gpu and games are working flawlessly without overclocking.

Update: You will not be able to play every game @ 60fps because of your GPU.

The games I'm going to be playing are cs:go and dayz standalone on preferably high settings. So which CPU would be good for me? If I can spend less money that would be better but either one.
