AHCI Bios conflict - HELP

Hi,

I really need some help this time.
I have a Rampage Formula 3 and a SSD Samsung 840.
The drive is connected to the 6Gb port.
Samsung Magician says it is not in AHCI.
I go to bios and see it in AHCI.
I tried regedit and it is set to "0" which means AHCI.
However when in Bios/Boot Sequence/ I see "IDE" in front of the hard drive. Is it a conflict?
I went back and changed the "on board 6gbs Sata controller" to AHCI (it was in IDE), booted and got a blue screen. Had to move back to IDE.

So, at this point I think I set something wrong when installing W7. I guess I should have set the onboard 6Gbs to AHCI prior.

Any suggestions? Do I need wipe and reinstall W7?

I get the impression you really are in IDE mode.

If you really are using IDE then probably the only main disadvantage is that TRIM might not be functional so you'll waste space on the SSD over time.

I'm not sure what you refer to when you say BIOS->BOOT SEQUENCE. Is that in the motherboard BIOS?

It's also unclear whether you were in the BIOS or in Windows when you changed from AHCI to IDE.

*If you want to reinstall Windows, give the motherboard manual so one of us can verify which settings should be AHCI.

**I believe it's possible to apply the regedit, boot to the BIOS, change to AHCI and be working fine in AHCI mode.

I'm unsure if this is the exact procedure of it you did this. If it's not too difficult, it may be best to...

Normally I'd say ignore it but I think TRIM can eat up a lot of space over time. On the other hand, if you have plenty of FREE SPACE which is easily monitored you may wish to avoid reinstalling Windows and only do it if you run out of space.

Don't forget you should OVERPROVISION the SSD as well with Samsung Magician. I'm unsure how that ties in to TRIM not working.

Thanks Photonboy.

When on the MB Bios, I got to boot sequence to choose which hardware boots first, and I see the SSD however it shows "1st Drive - [IDE: SO Samsung SSD]

I am always going to the MB bios (except when I tried to regedit). Since the first time I tried regedit it was set to "0" so I never changed it.

There are two pages on the bios that are driving me crazy;

1- AHCI Settings: I only see CD/DVD Boot Time Out 35 - (dont see the SSD)
2- Onboard Devices Configuration: Onboard SATA6G Controller (IDE MODE) "If I change here to AHCI W7 crashes blue screen before sign in screen"
