Problem with opening steam games and missing executable

I was renaming things in my program files (x86) for God knows what reason, and know I cannot access my steam games through the steam app. Each time I click on them it says failed to start game (missing executable). But I can get to my games through the file explorer:
local disk
program files (x86)
steam
steamapps
steam common
click on whatever game (metro last light)
then run the application and i still have all my saves and the game runs
Is there any way I can get back to use the steam app to get to all my games?

ask your friends, it's easy to know which one has the same game, ask them for the file name. hopefully they have it installed.
i can't remember if there is a way to see which executable it is trying to execute. maybe the properties tab has it?

ill try to see later when i get home. but that's another 6hrs or so
