Hi ppl, My PC's configuration is:

Motherboard: ASUS Maximus IV GENE-Z/GEN3 ( 4 slots for ram and Dual Channel Ram Supported)
cpu: Intel i5- 2500k
Ram : 2 X 4gb CORSAIR XMS3 Single Channel(Ram spec Link)

Is it possible to add a pair of 8 gb ram of same brand and speed? Will that negatively affects overall performance of my PC or not?

Solution
Yep. Single channel is 2 x dimms. 4 channel is 4 dimms.

So I gather you mean you've got 1 STICK of ram - 4GB Corsair. If you get another stick of that exact same ram, you'll be fine. Make sure you stick it in the right dimm slot. See your mobo manual.
I would recommend getting a dual channel kit unless you can buy the same exact model number ram stick that you currently own for it to match. ( which appears that you can on manufacturers website for $55) or here is a best price link http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145328&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

You mean if i add one more single channel ram in dual channel slot , the whole pair would act like a dual channel ram?/

While hopefully they will play together, there is no guarantee, best bet is to get a 2x4GB set, any time you mix packages of DRAM it can be and often is problematic - just look through the forums, I see numerous threads daily of people who have done the "get another stick of that exact same ram, you'll be fine. " and they are here because the sticks won't play.... It's basically a crap shoot, if it was so easy to mix sticks and add sticks the DRAM makers would simply sell single sticks and make lots more monwey, sticks in a set are tested to work together.

You are saying instead of going for 2x8 gb ram of 1600mhz , i should go for 2x 4gb ram of 1600 which matches the older pair? If that will sort out my issue then Thanx bro i'll surely buy 2 x 4gb ram.

You sure bro? Buying 2 X 8gb ram of 1600mhz, will that be compatible with older pair(2x 4 gb of 1600mhz)?? Dont you think time table mismatch may become a issue???
