Need help Setting up lan party

i have a netgear N300 wireless adsl2+modem router how to i set up a lan party without conneting it to internet via adsl

power up the router without DSL connected, connect your computer to it, open the Command Prompt, and type ipconfig

if it shows an IP starting with either 10. or 192., your router does not require a DSL line and all you need is connect the other computers to the router and you are set to have your LAN party.

test if the router will provide an IP without being connected to a DSL line. Some DSL routers will not work when they don't detect a DSL line.

If DHCP is providing you with an IP, then ll you need is connect a network switch for additional LAN port if you need more than four.

2 questions 1 how to i test if router giving me an ip and 2 do i need to have router conected to internet or is just power and ethernet cables enough
