Is this Y Splitter safe to use?

So i've read that using a Y splitter onto a fan header on the motherboard can be quite costly as they aren't designed for this but, i came across "akasa ak-cb002" splitter which i presume uses power from the psu and the fan header to take information of what rpm the fan should run at. So is this Akasa cable safe to use or is it just as bad?

Any help please.

yes it is perfectly safe to use
edit:
it is simply a 4 pin molex which plugs into to a molex on your psu cable then powers 3 4pin PWM fans

Was I right in what i presumed then that all power is drawn from the psu so have no chance of damaging the motherboard?

Yup.

Of course, your fans have to be 4-pin PWM ones, or they'll run at full speed.
