Hello,

I am from India & I built my system around 2 years back. I got ASUS Sabertooth X58 i.e. LGA 1366 Mobo, with i7 950 Processor. At present I am using Corsair Dominator DDR3 1600mhz RAM 2 X 3 = 6GB (Triple Channel RAM). My question is as it is now discontinued & not available anywhere, can I use any other single or dual channel RAM, of total 6 RAM of 2 or 4 GB each? I want to upgrade my system Memory and also want good performance with 1600mhz atleast.

Thank You

You probably won't get them to work together unless they are the same brand/model. Chances are that the latencies are different and they would be working in parallel.

As i7Baby says the best solution is probably looking at the QVL for memory - but in most cases you probably won't experience a problem in plopping in random Triple Channel DIMMs - as long as the voltage the same as what your motherboard is used to (e.g. if current ram uses 1.5v, buy 1.5v).

I'm on a 1366 myself and using 6x2GB Kingston running triple.
