Headset Microphone Still Doesn't Work

I got a single reply on my last thread so I'm gonna try one last time:

My headset has a microphone believe it or not but my laptop doesn't want to use it at all. I set it has default, it's not muted, the cords are plugged into the jacks, everything that should make it not work is set so that it should work but it doesn't.

Can someone offer a little insight into why this might be?

I said that it isn't muted or anything. I said that it is set as default so explain to me how the hell it could possibly be disabled when I specified that it is NOT DISABLED

If I had another headset this wouldn't be a problem but sadly I can't just go 'Oh well this one doesn't work let's just go buy another one with my infinite supply of money'

However the headset mic DID work once upon a time with my laptop before it died and I started using this one. This laptop does not want to let it work for what appears to be no reason what so ever

I already had no one help me. That's why I'm not exactly happy with people repeating what the only person who replied last time said.
