Hi,
This is my first computer build,I have Ubuntu on a pendrive and I am planning on installing that if it works

I've chosen this motherboard:
http://www.flipkart.com/digilite-dl-960gm-gs3-fx-motherboard/p/itmdd2hgeqfvquye?pid=MBDDD2HGEQFVQUYE&otracker=from-search&srno=t_2&query=motherboard&ref=6633c9a5-fdb2-47a4-baa1-3fe347df44e4

As you can see in the link, it says that the motherboard has an OS support of Windows Xp and above, but doesn't say anything about Linux

So, is this a problem and do I need to look for a different motherboard?
Thanks!

PS: Sorry if I've put this in the wrong category

Update: I've got one more question, if a bit silly: in all the computers I have used so far, whenever I plug in a new mouse/keyboard(only USB) windows installs a driver for it

Considering that when I build this computer, it will not have an OS but I need the mouse to install the OS, do I need a driver, or will it work by itself?
If I need a driver, will a PS/2 mouse work without one?

I have a fair amount of experience with Linux and I would highly recommend you go with an Intel CPU and Intel chipset. Ubuntu will have all the drivers you need for the mouse and keyboard. That motherboard doesn't look very good and AMD chipsets seem to have way more problems with Linux.

Linux will run on pretty much anything. Ubuntu will detect the hardware in the installer and install the appropriate drivers. Motherboard manufacturers never qualify their boards for running Linux because it's still considered a fringe OS.

Installing Ubuntu is really almost as easy as installing Windows in most cases. Easier if you take into account not having to enter a long Product Key.

Maybe there's something with which I am unfamiliar, but I don't know of any motherboard capable of running Windows that won't run Ubuntu.

The OS is independent of the hardware. As long as you meet the minimum specs with your CPU and memory, it will run Ubuntu.

On the other question, Ubuntu installs the drivers you need for you mouse.

skittle on the linux board is fond of saying Linux will run on a toaster. In fact smart toasters probably do run on linux.

Your BIOS runs the mouse and keyboard until the OS takes over and it will.

The only hardware issue on a motherboard to really worry about is to avoid ARM chips unless they specifically say they work with linux.
