Yesterday was not only the happiest day of my life but it was also the worst day of my life. I had been saving up for months to purchase the new GS70. I got it in the mail and it looked beautiful. After getting it all set up I decided to install Titanfall to test out its gaming capabilities. I'd fire up the game, it would play through the branding intro then poof Titanfall.exe has crashed. First thing I thought was update the drivers. So I preceded to update all of the drivers and all of windows 8.1. Tried to run it again and nothing. It crashes again. I get a little info box that pops up telling me that my gpu drivers crash but have successfully restarted. After another two or so hours of uninstalling drivers and reloading drivers I decided to call MSI. I talked to them for about 40 minutes. They talked me through updating the bios and re updating the drivers again. After all that I still got nothing. I was forced to send it to MSI for repairs. I've never felt the feeling of getting a $1,800 piece of gear and it just not working like it should. MSI claims that this is an uncommon error and they will get it back to me as soon as possible. Which means they'll have it for like a month. Has anyone had this issue with any of their MSI laptops running the GTX 800m series? Is MSI's tech support good? Will it really take a month or so for me to get it back? Will they just give me a whole new laptop or will they crack this one open and try and fix it by hand?

Solution

I got my laptop back almost 2 weeks after I sent it out. It came back perfect. I can run all of my high end games at max settings with no lag and no other problems.

I probably won't sleep until I get this laptop back. Anything can happen. I'm concerned that either I'll get it back still broken or they can't fix it or something along those lines. I'm the same way with everything I send back to get fixed. But this is different. This is a lot of money that I'm afraid I'll lose.
