Hey guys, i just won a 4930k from ebay bid. When i got delivery of it, i checked to see if Intel can identify the chip on there warranty page. I tried to type in the FPO and Serial number but the website cannot identify it :(

I did the same thing for my existing 3570k but that seemed to be identified

The box was fully sealed, so its probably not a OEM device?

Has anyone experienced something like this before? Anything to be concerned about?

Thanks in advanced

If the packaging looks not tampered then it should be fine! Good luck!

Yes that is the official Intel ID verification. Try calling Intel's support. I am sure that they can give you correct information. In the meantime put your eBay payment on hold if you can.

Its already payed for and delivered, but i have 14 day return policy, so trying to check if its a fake within that time frame. I dont have rest of the system for my upcoming build yet so cant test it.

Call up Intel support and get them to verify the CPU. If they cannot, it is more than likely a fake.

It's nice to have the motherboard, CPU, PSU, RAM so that you can assembly and tests (verify).

I made a call to Intel UK, from what i can gather they said the FPO number matches but when they searched both the FPO and S/N number it shows up as nothing. Sorry if thats not very clear as the phone line quality was not very clear

I managed to chat with Intel this time on their website, they ran the S/N and batch numbers and managed to trace it!. Apparently the CPU was designed to be sold in the US. As a result, when i (in the UK) try to check it on their website it does not pick it up. My 3570k is traced from the website as it was bought from a UK retailer.

Thanks for your assistance!
