Hello, I just had a new power supply installed. The unit is located at the bottom, with the fan facing as well as being covered up by the bottom. Basically the fan for the PSU is covered up by the bottom of the case. Is this acceptable for a PSU, and will it run into problems in the future?

Solution
yes the dust filter is exactly what you need for the PSU to face dwn. just try to have the chassi resting a little of the ground, on a desk if possible to keep dust out.
I would always go with the PSU face dwn myself since your PSU is cooling itself with air from outside the case allowing it to run cooler and that will give you a longer life.

the fan takes in air from the bottom to cool itselfs, then pushes out air through the back.

or you have the fan facing up which then takes in air from within the case which could lead to problems since you're cooling the psu with warmer air.

if the fan is block from the bottom it wont be able to cool itselfs. won't be a future problem, more of a straight away!

chassi's normally have a filter at the bottom when the PSU is ment to be at the bottom, are you sure this is not the case?
if their is no filter then i would turn the psu to face fan up.

if their is a filter it will be fine to leave the PSU the way it is, remember to keep the chassi away from carpets since the PSU will get blocked and bad things will happen. Good Luck

On the bottom of my case were the power supply is supposed to be, there is a soft mesh like area, but I don't feel any holes, and its square shaped and doesn't cover the entire area of the PSU. Is this the filter?

I would have to say that it's a low budget case, as I have never heard of this brand.

It's normal for the sellers of full PC's to skimp on things which you as a buyer may overlook.
I would talk to the seller about the psu and see if he will turn the PSU face up.

I went to the website of the manufacturer of my case. I wasn't able to find my exact model, by I found one that is very similar to my case and has the same mesh thing on the bottom that have. In the link below it shows a picture of this and it labels this part on the bottom as a "Dust Filter". Is this what is necessarry for a PSU with the fan facing at the bottom?
