What does total available graphics memory mean ?

Hi every one
i know there are lots of the same question i'm asking :/
but actually my answer is a bit different and i hope you can help me to know the answer,
first this is my laptops specs ..

HP Pavilion 15
Windows 8.1 - 64-bit
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4500U CPU @ 1.80GHz
System Memory : 8GB
Graphics device 1 : NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M ( 2GB Dedicated )
Graphics device 2 : Intel(R) HD Graphics Family
Current Resolution : 1366 x 768
Refresh Rate : 60

Total available graphics memory : 4096MB
Dedicated video memory: 2048MB DDR3
Shared system memory :2048MB


ok, i know that dedicated video memory is the memory of the Nvidia Geforce itself,
and the shared system memory is the memory shared from the RAM of my laptop
to the "Intel(R) Graphic Card (tell me if im wrong about this point )

so my answer is , is it mean that if im playing a high game graphics with high graphic settings
and the game needs more than 2GB , is it mean that there will be memory available
Up to 4096 MB since my total available Graphics memory is 4096MB ?
or only my 2GB of NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M will be available to me ?

im sorry i think i didnt understand your answer very well, :/
1-you mean when my dedicated Geforce runs out, an additional memory will be taken from RAM to help the Geforce ?
2- and by telling me not to worry because my gpu could never utilize 1 GB memory , what exactly do you mean ?

is gpu you are talking about ,,, the same Intel(R) Graphic card i have wish is 2GB ? or they are different ?

your dedicated gpu will turn on during intensive load, like gaming.

your intel graphics card will be working when for example just browsing the web, to save battery life.

total available graphics memory is just whats available for your laptop, during gaming it will not utilize this. this is mostly for when you connect an external display thru your hdmi port on the laptop.

i'm a liltle bit slow for this kind of things (and my english is bad)..i kinda learning this computer thingy slower but highly interested..sorry if my question is stupid, doe it mean even if it has 4096mb memory, it will use only 2048mb memory only? so if the game need more then 2gb memory, does it make it lag and slow?
