So I got a new power supply and the 24 pin connector would not quite fit in when I tried to plug it in, so I reinstalled the original power supply and turned it on... then windows startup repair started.... it's been repairing for over 15 minutes. Does anyone know what I could do or what could have caused this? like did I damage my motherboard or something?

EDIT: it stopped repairing and said it couldn't repair it, so i turned my computer off and on again and it works again. I am very confused.

Damaging your motherboard wouldn't cause Windows to get damaged, heck, your computer wouldn't cut on at all! It's possible though, I think doing what you did sort of corrupted the Windows installation. I dont know how, but as a solution, if you could find any sort of Windows installation CD or if you had a Windows installation USB, you could reinstall it.

thanks for the response, but my windows is working now, good to know that the motherboard has nothing to do with it, I'm still a bit worried though...
