Usually I am very careful when I do upgrades to my computer, went to install a new gtx 770 and one of the screws wouldn't thread and I accidentally knocked it onto the motherboard (everything was completely powered down already, no power at all) and it fell right near my CPU color between what looked like 2 capacitors, i tried to pick it up and it slipped between them, there was no way I could get it so I used gravity to try to get the screw out by tilting it, it went to the bottom of the case and slid the case a few times to try to figure out where the screw was, I was able to get it out and the computer boots up fine and functions fine, I might be acting a little paranoid but any possibility that screw could have caused damage when it fell onto the motherboard or when I tilted it to get the screw out? I believe it was mainly sliding on the bottom, I used a flashlight and I didn't notice anything.

I work on computers in a large office building. We replace motherboards quite often and bounce stuff around, drop hdd on top of motherboards that are powered up and so on. Nothing ever seems to break from that type of interaction. Boards and expansion cards burn out when they burn out.

I agree with ThatVeitGuy the chances of damaging a mobo by droping a screw are a million to 1.
