I am trying to do a fresh windows 7 install on a 32-bit system but i am facing some problems. I booted from a bootable usb with windows 7 home premium 32-bit on it. It went well until the screen where you have to choose the partition you want to install your windows on.

I chose c: drive which had 930gb and i got a warning that it contains personal data and i didn't want that so i went back and formatted the c drive. After few seconds it was done and then i chose c: again but this time i got this error

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
cannot create a new partition or locate an existing one
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i looked on the internet for solutions but whatever i tried didn't help

I tried this method:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DiskPart <ENTER>

list disk <ENTER>

select disk X <ENTER> (Where X is = the Number of the Hard Drive)

CLEAN ALL <ENTER> (Will Take a Long While)

create partition primary <ENTER>

format fs=ntfs <ENTER> (Will Take a Long While)

assign <ENTER>

active <ENTER>

exit <ENTER>

exit <ENTER>

IMMEDIATELY DISCONTINUE install process and REBOOT.

Re-Start Clean Installation Process from DVD again without a format.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
But it didn't solve the problem ,still facing it.

I also read that i have to unplug all the unneeded hdd's and usb's, but the only thing i have is the 930gb hdd which belongs to the laptop itself and my bootable usb, which i can't unplug either. So what can i do?

Please help
All answers are appreciated
thanks a lot

Is there something wrong with having a bootable usb? I copied the files from my windows 7 cd that i received with my pc to an usb. Why does it sound absurd to you? Even some pc stores in my neighboorhood use this method. Why shouldn't i use that.

where did I ever lead this ''Why does it sound absurd to you?''

looks like there is cause your not the only one as I said. I'm seeing a few like you here but would like to know myself ... I would just figure that is a Microsoft thing to insure that you buy a new legal copy, there good at that.. and as far as the pc stores go they may just have a commercial license from Microsoft to do these in bulk for there customer's instead of having to buy one disk at a time ??

dude I just wanting to know the reason of this just like you that's all
