I am in search of the ultimate Optical Drive, I want the fastest possible in every area, (Reading/Writing: BD, DVD, and CD) and I am hoping for Lightscribe as well, these are my top 3 I have found so far please let me know your thoughts. I'd like to know which one is better or if there is something else I need to look into.

LG BH16NS40

Discs aren't as important as they used to be. Personally haven't put a disc in my desktop since Windows 7 installation (I run Windows 8.1)

I would say any Blu-Ray drive with lightscribe and high read/write speeds from a reputable manufacturer would fit the bill. Most do use the same chip designs from various manufacturers. Individual board design and mechanicals might vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.

LG was the last company to introduce a new disc class, the M-Disc made of artificial stone for long term storage.

Sony is the patent holder for Blu-Ray so it is likely the chip design everyone is using, or at least the core technology is theirs. They might be the best choice.
