About 9-10 months ago, I bought a Sandisk Cruzer 16GB flash drive. It was all fine then one day I plug it into my Windows PC (Compaq Presario C700 upgraded to 2gb ram and with windows 7) the drive was recognized as an internal drive (as if it was another hard drive disk). Next, I plug into my iMac and it is recognized as a usb hdd flash drive. I'd like to use it as a bootable USB drive with Ubuntu.

This may sound like a nooby question, but I really don't know whats going on.
I have a flash drive of the same exact model, and I bought it 1.5 years ago, and it is recognized as a normal flash drive.

I have formatted the thumb drive, by the way.

Hi,

It is possible that something in your Windows registry might have been messed up causing that particular flash disk to show up as an internal drive.
