This is my first overclock and I have found myself with an odd issue.

I had my 4670K OC'd to a modest 4.0 Ghz, with 1.15V and it seemed stable as far as I can tell. I think Uncore is at 3.5Ghz, and I may have changed RING voltage to 1.1V something... I'll need to double check, but my problem occurred even when I left everything at default and only changed clock speed and voltage. Each time I notice it, I up my Vcore by .01V, restart and load the same thing that caused the issue and not notice it. My cooler is a modest 212 EVO, and my motherboard is the Gigabyte Z87MX-D3H with BIOS version F6. I run Intel Burn Test each time I change the voltage and do about 40 passes on High with a video playlist on youtube running. My most recent peak temperature is 77C.

My problem is that without fail, at least once or twice a day, I'll get noticeable static in my audio quality. This includes crackling, pops when something starts and ends, pops randomly, even audio stuttering. Once I had a Skype call with horrible audio static and lag, the video was just as laggy and incoherent as the sound. If I increased the Vcore then Skype calls go well for the rest of the day ir even the next but something always gets messed up again--be it sound, video streaming, performance, etc. But it still seems to mostly (almost entirely) happen when streaming video online like on gametrailers.com, cbs.com, and of course youtube. I've uninstalled, reinstalled flash with no change. I think I may have noticed some sound issues playing games like in Titanfall but I'm not sure. When it happens in online videos, and it doesn't always, it typically happens in the beginning when the video is loading and trying to establish a smooth FPS and stream. Even Windows may lag, like mouse movement and general performance. Video games get unplayable. CPU usage does not go that high when it happens... maybe about ~30% tops. This certainly didn't ever happen before I attempted overclocking. It tends to happen after my PC has been on for a while, I think and tends to happen when I turn the thing back on the next day.

I have not noticed the issue when I return to the defaults and stocks. This doesn't happen if there is no OC. When I first overclocked, my voltage was way lower and I kept raising it when I encountered the various issues I listed above.

It doesn't look like it's a power strip or outlet issue. I also used a latency tester and disabled almost everything but the system devices... no change. Oddly it runs worse some days than others.

I noticed a change when I adjusted my Vcore by .01V. I noticed that every time I changed my Vcore or perhaps even clock speed, the lag and sound issues would mostly go away, whereas if I left it all as is, it would get worse each day. Basically, I have to change the VID (does not seem to matter what change) every time I boot to get it to mostly not have these issues for the majority of the day.

Any idea what is going on? I have not been able to do anything to permanently fix my problem (game performance also lags) so I returned it completely to stock settings, even with the Turbo Boost reduced back to a max of 3.6Ghz. And now the issue never happens. I don't know why but it does not seem that I can keep any sort of overclock without needing to change the voltage everyday. Odd thing is it doesn't matter what I do with the voltage, so long as I just change it. Also, I do not have a sound card, if that helps diagnosis.

Thank you so much for your time!

EDIT: I wanted to be more clear: if I do not change any BIOS setting and turn my PC on the next day with the OC, everything tends to lag, be it Windows itself, a video game, web browser, etc.
