Full restore question?

I would like to test a full system reset of windows 8.1 to test fps problems with my graphics card, but the thing is, I would like to be able to restore my system back if this doesn't solve the problem. Is this possible to do. I have an internal SSD and 2tb HDD.

System Image the best backup in my opinion, you could use your HDD as backup device and Installation disk to recover.
I created a step by step and tested it with DVDs but not with USB/Internal Drive as backup device, but should work with either.
Require
1. USB Pendrive/Ext Drive/Separate Internal Drive greater than ‘C’ Drive or several blank DVDs
2. Blank CD or small USB Pendrive (1 Gb) if you have no Installation...

At Start Screen -
Search for ‘File History’
Select ‘File History’
System Image Backup (Bottom Left)
Select backup media

Create Image, then, if no Installation Media, create Recovery Drive

At Start Screen –
Create Recovery Drive by typing ‘Recovery’ select ‘Create a Recovery Drive’ (Require 1Gb USB Drive or blank CD)

To Restore System

Boot from Recovery Drive/Installation Media
(Choose ‘Repair’ if Installation Media)
Choose Language and progress through Troubleshoot and Advanced Options to Restore from System Image, insert Final Disk of Image or USB drive when prompted and click Retry.

Your Backup Disk details should appear.

Click Next

Leave Format unchecked if it’s a new disk then click Next

Click Finish to proceed with Restore

I do not have any blank cds and I only have usb flash drives which don't work. My internal HDD doesnt show up as an option in image backup, possibly because I have other files on it?

Don't understand that, the Image above was taken from this laptop which has an SSD and an HDD, definitely shows Local Disk 'G' as a suitable drive, and you can store as many System Images as you like alongside other data...Are the USB flash drives kaput or do they just not appear?

I figured it out, I did a little research and found that usbs cannot be used for system image, and I instead I figured out I need to create a partition on my HDD, but how much data should I partition? It says on the image that it could take up to 75gb in space, but my system has few files since its only about a month old

Presume you're talking about Reset as opposed to Refresh. Only the Drive or Logical Drive (Partition) on which Windows is installed will be affected. I also assume that Windows is installed on a separate SSD and that you don't have a small (24Gb) in an Intel RST setup...If you're at all concerned about the contents of your HDD you could always disconnect it during the Reset!

I reset my system and fixed my problem, so I will not need to restore my files anymore anyways, but what I did was set 100gb partition and created the backup there

Excellent, plus you have a full backup of your System should anything go wrong!
