I have a WD Passport drive. The USB connector on the drive has broken and can't read the data on the drive.

I have a WD Passport drive. The USB connector on the drive has broken and no USB connections can read the data on the drive. The USB seems to be stuck on the board. What can I do?

Hi,

Most WD My Passport Essential drives have a built-in hardware drive encryption that prevents you from accessing your data if you will remove the HDD out of the enclosure and connect it directly to a PC internally or via another enclosure. In that case the only to have access to your data back from that drive is to fix that broken USB interface or find a compatible replacement WD USB/PCB interface for your external drive.
