Hello All - I have a new one for you to think over, and thanks for letting my tickle your grey matter. A friend of mine just gave me an old socket 754 - Gigabyte mobo, that came with an AMD Athlon 64 2800+ Clawhammer 1.8GHz. The mobo reads near the memory sticks - Gigabyte K8VM800M, but, when I looked it up using the Speccy program it reads - Gigabyte K8M800-8237. I know this is an old mobo and all - but it is very stable running after being left on for 7 days straight, the CPU temp's are at 79 degrees, mobo temp's are at 81 degrees and the AGP it came with is a 256MB Chaintech NVIDIA GeForce 6200 runs at 102 degrees. I would like to upgrade the CPU to something faster then the 1.8GHz it has now. Thanks Again to All Who Respond in Advance, and Have a Great Evening...

Hello mjmacka - Thanks for your help and showing what I will be able to use, I never thought about using a mobile chip. I found one of these dirt cheap and when I receive it, and I'm going to modify it by adding a heat-spreader off of a dead desktop CPU. Thanks again for your help...

Since my last post(sorry it took so long to post back) - I have installed said AMD Mobile Athlon 64 chip, only after retrofitting it with a heat spreader off of a non-working Athlon II. It works great and stays somewhat cool(103 Degrees F), and is quite fast for being a single core Newark with 2.6GHz 1MB L2 Cache. Thanks a ton from both mjmacka & spooky2th, you 2 have helped bring this old and tired MoBo new life....
