So I have an ssd, and the only thing on there is the OS, so should how do I back it up to an EXTERNAL HDD and can I use that as an boot drive if my SSD died, or should I just clone my SSD and leave it in an anti-static bag, what is a good method to deal with a dead SSD, and plz give instructions on how to boot from that or something along those lines.

Solution
1) If you have other SSD or other regular HDD, you can just clone the whole thing into the new SSD or HDD.
2) If you want to use the external hdd for backup, make the system image and the system repair disc.
3) If you have other SSD and external hdd you can use the #1 and #2 method.
4) if the old SSD has problem, you can use the system repair disc with the external hdd drive to restore the OS/data/folds. 5) If have the copy of the backup in the SSD, you can just plug in the SSD, then you can use it right the way.
6) For the cloning software, if you have the WD and you can use the "Acronis True Image WD Edition Software", if you have the Seagate/Maxtor, and you an use "DiscWizard" , and if you don't have either one you can use the "...
If you have the only external HDD, then you can use the win7/win8 backup utilities to create an image to the external HDD and at the same time make a system repair disc too. Because you can't boot the windows using the external HDD even you clone the SSD. The cloning OS is for the internal hard drive only.
Here is how to backup the win7/win8. http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/4241/how-to-create-a-system-image-in-windows-7/

If you have problem later you can use the system repair disc to restore the image to the new SSD or new HDD.

If you have an optical drive and Microsoft Windows, then open the Windows control panel and go to the Backup and Restore feature. You can make a mirror image, an emergency boot disk, and a repair disk. It is very very easy to do. All you have to do is select which drive to use. Select the optical drive. Store the discs in a safe place.

In addition you can use the control panel's backup and restore section to setup regularly scheduled automatic backups that can be saved to an internal or external hard drive. You can also do it with an optical drive or a USB flash drive. All you have to do is select which drive to save the backup to. I have mine setup for a weekly backup every Sunday morning. The backup is saved to an internal hard drive. The backup is performed in the background. No muss! No fuss! No bother!

The control panel's backup and restore section also has a restore feature that can be used to restore previous versions of Windows that were saved as backup's. All you have to do is select which backup to use. Typically it is the most recent backup that worked without any problems.

If an ssd is really dead but still under warranty you can probably exchange it for a replacement ssd. If it is an older drive that is no longer under warranty you could have a memorial service and cremate the ssd. Years ago I had a hard drive die. I took it completely apart and used the pieces to create a work of art.

What if I cloned my First SSD to a Second one and than store the second one in my motherboard bag, the ones that antistatic and store that in a safe place like the box of the motherboard, would that help in situations?

What cloning software should I use?

I use "Acronis True Image WD Edition Software" for the WD driver http://support.wd.com/product/downloaddetail.asp?swid=119&wdc_lang=en or "DiscWizard" http://www.seagate.com/support/downloads/item/discwizard-master-dl/ for Seagate driver. If you have the SSD from intel Samsung they have the data migration software too. Those are free.
Acturally I did the similar cloning too but I cloned the whole driver into the 250GB small regular HDD that connects in the same PC. I did the cloning before I go to bad let the software do the rest, because they can do the cloning and when the cloning was done and will shut down the PC.

What do I do, if I want my SSD on one external drive and HDD on another external drive, would that work, or should I put both on the same, and if incident occured, I get a new ssd and a new hdd and plug those in, then plug in that one external drive and let the restoration do the rest

If the external drive is the internal drive that you connect it to the hard drive enclosures, then you can do it but please to note they will clone the whole thing into that drive and all the old data will gone on that hard drive.
You can clone to a SSD too, if you don't have either WD or Seagate/Maxtor drive, then you can use the " EaseUS Todo Backup Free " http://www.easeus.com/backup-software/tb-free.html

Or you can try this 1) clone the whole thing into one SSD or internal HDD.2) To create an image to the external drive and make a system repair disc. In this way you have two copies of your OS. So the SSD is dead, you can either put in the other SSD or insert the system repair disc and connect the external drive, boot the PC follow the step to step to restore the OS.

So if I were to put in another SSD and HDD, I could just plug in the external hdd with the system image and the system repair disc, and the I just move the files and OS?

1) If you have other SSD or other regular HDD, you can just clone the whole thing into the new SSD or HDD.
2) If you want to use the external hdd for backup, make the system image and the system repair disc.
3) If you have other SSD and external hdd you can use the #1 and #2 method.
