Hey there guys, quick question.

Do I remove the CPU backplate that was supplied with my Noctua heatsink, when I remove the heatsink and motherboard? I'm going to be moving my components over to my new case. So i wanted to know if I have to remove the backplate, before removing my Motherboard.

Or can I just remove the heatsink and leave the backplate attached to the motherboard, then install the heatsink once I set the Motherboard into the new case?

This is my first time installing any components into my case, but i am eager to learn. I am not a total noob. I've just never had the confidence to do any installing myself. So if somebody could clear this up for me, It would be a big help.

Thanks.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. If your temps are good, then the applied paste is good. Repasting could possibly make things worse.

Your new case should have standoffs included, so get them set, HDD/ssd moved over, fans set etc before moving the motherboard. Then psu, wire routing etc. Save gpu for last.

Oh, ok. So just remove the motherboard, minus the GFX card. Then install standoffs, and screw the mobo back on with heatsink and ram already installed?

I was wanting to maybe re-apply the thermal paste. But my temps seem to be fine. 19-25c when it isn't hot outside. Maybe I will apply paste at a later time, if temps are starting to rise a bit more.

Thanks man.

Ok thanks kara. I will move over the HDD/SSD and the fans. I'm actually waiting on two new 120mm Delta fans. They are apparently really good fans. Once i set those, I will move the motherboard over with heatsink. I will re apply paste in another year or less depending on temperatures.
