Hello,
I have a bitcoin mining shed built in my backyard. We ran a 100a line to it from the main breaker box and installed a sub breaker box for the shed. The main breaker box has a whole house surge protector. I had a trednet PoE adapter running in the shed just fine. Then we had a power surge/outage.
I am not sure what happened, but we lost all power to the house. At the main breaker box, the surge protector green light was off and the main house breaker was tripped. Anytime I tried to turn the main breaker on, it would auto shutoff because the surge protector was off. After a few minutes the light on the surge protector came back on. Power to the house was restored.
However, the PoE adapter in the shed would lose connected to the network frequently. Pinging a machine on the PoE adapter would produce really high latency and then it would stop all together.
I plugged the PoE into an outside outlet on my house. This restored all networking to the shed (using a long cat5 cable). I tried several PoE adapters and none could maintain a connection to the shed outlet. I turned off the 120v breaker in the shed sub-box and turned off the breaker at the main box to the whole shed. I turned them back on hoping that would fix it but no go.
Now I have the PoE plugged into the side of the house with a long ethernet cable running to the shed. I cannot get a stable connection via the shed outlet now. Any ideas what may be up?
