What is a reccomended amount of power supply i should use in this System?

You have a 250w gpu, and a sub 100w CPU. I don't see you breaking 400w with this setup. With that psu could run an sli setup of those cards. Unleas you are going sli our will be ocing, if get a good 500-550w psu.

although 500 will run it its not what is recommended. i like to go larger so the psu doesnt have to work as hard.

The graphics card has a minimum system requirement of 600 watt or greater power supply with a minimum of 42 amps on the +12 volt rail. The 800 watt power supply is sufficient.

Work as hard? 400W is 80% of the output of a 500W PSU. A 550W would be less then 75%. This is the sweet spot for a PSU. To use a 650 or even worse an 800W (???) isn't likely to be as efficient.

The difference between 50 and 75% isn't much. Sub 50% and near 100% loads aren't as efficient. I prefer loading my PSU a bit more so that my idle efficiency is better.

There is another aspect as well. That is system noise. On some power supplies, you can set the PSU fan to come on only when the PSU hits a certain percent usage level. So if you select a slightly higher PSU wattage (high efficiency PSU's) then under normal day to day activities the power supply is essentially fan-less.
