First of all, id like to show my rig setup so my follow up question is understood better so here it is:

CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD5 TH ATX LGA1150
Memory: Kingston HyperX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600
Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 500GB 2.5" SSD
Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM
Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM
Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 760 2GB Superclocked ACX
EVGA GeForce GTX 760 2GB Superclocked ACX (SLI Configuration)
Case: Cooler Master HAF 932 Advanced ATX Full Tower
Power Supply: EVGA 650W ATX12V / EPS12V
Optical Drive: LG WH14NS40 Blu-Ray/DVD/CD Writer
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Recently I just used a SLI configuration for my video cards. This is the first time I have had two video cards in my rig. I was playing Portal 2 on maxed out settings just to do a test run on my cards and eventually had horrible artifacts come up on my screen. I did not get a screen shot of the artifacts since I was quick to end the process of the game and then disable my SLI configuration. I then checked my temperatures in which the highest GPU temp was 60 C. So my questions I have are if I have enough wattage allowed from my PSU and if so, then what could possibly be causing the artifacts?
Just to be clear, I have never had artifacts with just one GTX 760 before and also I do know that temperatures are not the cause.
Thanks in advance for any input towards this matter.

::EDIT:: Here is a link for the specs of my PSU just in case someone needs it.

Did Geforce Experience make the game settings? Or you? It looks like Portal 2 should work with SLI. Have you tried the Geforce forums/help?

Your PSU is a bit to small. it is recommended to use a 600w for 1 760. you should get yourself a good 750w or even better 850w gold.

I have not used Geforce forums for help yet because I thought I wouldnt honestly get more input here. Although I have configured my settings for Portal 2 with the Nvidia Control Panel.

I have seen other builds in forums with 650 W PSU and 2 SLI GTX 760s that worked. But I still thought it was a high possibility that the PSU wasnt enough anyhow. Do you think you could tell me why theres work and mine doesnt? Also, do you know of anything else that might be the cause of the artifacts, or are you certain that my PSU is the cause?

I agree here as far as power goes.

When I went sli with 2 x 660's I originally had a 650w PSU and it only just ran stable, depending on how much load the GPU's were dealing with. So just in general it will be recommended to get a better psu.

But, the problem might be with sli settings itself

Not all games react well to sli.

I had a similar problem with BF4 and in Nvidia controlm panel had to set Physx processing to single GPU

Thanks for the extra input. Just in case, instead of taking the risk I decided to buy an 850 W PSU. Ill need it for future upgrades, but the problems with SLI for individual games could also be the problem too. Ill come back with an edit when I know the details with my new PSU running so anyone with a similar problem can use the information.

My info says minimum 700W for 760's in SLI. I'm mostly criticised for being too conservative. I would've thought the EVGA 650W would've been OK (just).

It could be the game settings. What do you use? Do you Geforce Experience to do the settings? Have you checked game forums for similar problems?

I gather its a good 1080p monitor you're using. Have you checked connections - cards, monitor?

Looking back at this, I do have an 850 W PSU now BUT I recently realized that EVGA's Precision X running was causing computer crashes and artifacts on some games still. The second I turned it off, its been fine for 2 weeks since then. So anyone with the same problem should look into similar solutions to be sure. Im still not positive that i needed to upgrade for that purpose but I am glad I did for future expansions.
