Im building a PC, i first went with the i7 4770k then found that 6 core or more CPU's worked better for video editing and so fourth, so i went with the AMD FX 9590 as it gets very very similar performance and its cheaper and has 8 cores now i just saw a video where the guy was saying for editing he would choose intel over AMD but for general gaming he would choose AMD as he was experimenting at the time. Question is what should i go its now Intel i7 3770k for $319 and a $300 motherboard for gaming and video editing or AMD FX 9590 for $309 and an equivalent (or better) motherboard for $250 for gaming and video editing. I have a Corsair H105 already as i went all out at the start and am settling down with my decisions at the start i just want to know whats better for my situation as i only want 1 pc for gaming and video editing and so fourth, thanks :)

The i7 4770k outperforms the other two - http://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html

If you are haggling over price, then X79 (eg i7 4820) is over your budget. Their mobos are also expensive.

i74770k is the current Haswell generation. i7 3770k was the previous generation.

So I think the i7 4770k should be your choice.

If you can ever expand to get an intel i7 4930k, get it. I have one and do editing/programming/rendering/2D/3D/App production and this CPU does it all, in my overall work, I average about 75-85% CPU usage, I do need a lot of CPU power! My CPU is also clocked to 4.9Ghz, soon to be 5.2Ghz, so overclocking is also a beast.

i know that but will the virtual cores actually do anything? without those virtual cores will it make a difference? And i can't afford a 4930k or a 3930k so it comes down to the 2 i mentioned sorry guys on a budget :/

Splitting the 4 cores into 8 makes the CPU processing more effective and efficient.

Of course intels gonna win but i noticed that CPUBoss is some what intel biased as i have seen them push out some ridiculous things but really i want to see i7 3770k vs FX 9590 in video editing like a whole benchmark thing so i can figure out whats better and I'm looking to save money plus I've seen that in gaming there isn't too much of a difference so yeah no Intel Extreme Series processors please, thanks :)

i7 4770k went back down to $319 and the 3770k went up to $329 and the FX 9590 went up to $327, i7 4770k is now cheapest but not sure if its the best for video editing thats what i want the CPU best for video editing out of them 3

if i was to do that i would go Xeon E3 1240V3 cause of the higher clocks but i saw in a review somewhere this guy had a motherboard that forced the xeon to always be in boost clock mode because you can't overclock them so basically it was overclocked.

ok i have already started looking for more parts for the i7 4770k anyways and figured it was cheapest so thanks :) hopefully this will do video editing well I'm getting 16GB's of ram and so fourth as i want this to be an all in one computer at a lower budget but what i chose originally will have to be what i choose now and my build is based around BF4 as i love that game, the FX processors would be nice on that but the i7 outperforms (even by 1-10 FPS) and also BF4 will use all threads and all cores of what the i7 has to offer as i see posts of BF4 using all 4 cores and 8 threads, thanks for the help guys if the i7 manages to continue to be cheaper that will be my option, thanks :)
